Ellis County constable indicted in blackmail case

An Ellis County constable was arrested Thursday after being indicted on several charges.

A grand jury indicted Michael Wade Jones for the misuse of official information, retaliation and deadly conduct.

He’s accused of driving recklessly at a woman who is a witness in another case against him. The indictment said he used information from a government database to blackmail her.

He’s also accused of tampering with evidence.

Jones’ bond was set at $80,000 total for the offenses.
