Driver of car hit in road rage shooting speaks out

Five bullets hit a woman's Honda Civic at close range during a recent road rage incident in Allen, and she walked away without a scratch.

The victim spokes with FOX 4 on Tuesday night and asked that we not show her face or use her name.

The 47-year-old woman says she was simply going with flow of traffic at 8 a.m. Monday on Greenville Avenue, just south of Main.

"I was just driving and then he just stopped," said the woman. "Not an intersection. Literally in the middle of traffic, stopped his vehicle…there were cars passing on the left and the right. I was honking like, ‘What are you doing?' when he put his hazards on. I was like, ‘OK, he's got car problems.'…I got in the right lane and swerved and passed him. I got back in the center lane and I heard a pop."

She only remembers hearing one shot, but there were five.

"I was absolutely terrified," she said. "He shot my car!"

The woman pulled into a Valero station, also not realizing at first that the driver of the other car, 44-year- old Cleaven Wade III, did the same.

Several people were recording cell phone video when police arrived. Wade was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He was arraigned Tuesday and is being held at the Collins County jail on a $25,000 bond.

Allen police have also moved to revoke his concealed handgun license.

The victim's car has been patched up, but remains bullet-riddled.

Bullets and bullet fragments struck the visor above her head, the dash in front of the steering wheel and the head rest.

"It's a miracle I am here," said the woman. "…I don't know how I survived. I don't know."

In Plano, a neighbor who lives across the street from Wade says Wade and his big German shepherd dog are popular in the area.

"He had mentioned that he had lost his wife to health complications," said neighbor Mike Vogelaar. "The dog seemed like a really good relationship with him. The dog is very disciplined and trained."
