Driver killed in West Dallas hit-and-run, fiery crash

Dallas police arrested a man after a deadly hit-and-run crash that left a driver pinned inside a burning car.

Police said both drivers were on the Mockingbird Bridge in West Dallas around 10:30 p.m. Monday. The driver of the Dodge Challenger crashed into the Toyota hybrid car and then kept going.

The hybrid car burst into flames. Firefighters quickly put the fire out, but found the driver already dead inside.

Around the same time, police got a call about a vehicle with heavy front-end damage less than a mile away. Officers found three men inside and arrested the driver.

Police said the unnamed driver will be charged with failure to stop and render aid. Other charges may be coming.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
