Driver dies in Irving after 125 mph chase and crash

A person who led Dallas County sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase died after the car caught fire.

The chase started around 3:30 Saturday morning when a sheriff's deputy tried to pull over a driver on I-35, at Mockingbird, deputies said.

The chase reached speeds up to 125 miles per hour.

Deputies briefly lost the vehicle, but after driving into Irving, they spotted the car and then saw the driver lose control on highway 183, near Carl Road.

The car burst into flames and officials said they were not able to save the driver.

Irving firefighters extinguished the fire.
