DPD seeks witnesses in Zoe Hastings murder case

Police have released new details and are seeking witnesses in connection the recent killing of an 18-year-old Dallas woman.

Zoe Hastings’ body was found in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas on Monday, Oct. 12 next to her family’s white minivan.

Hastings’ family said she left home Sunday afternoon, Oct. 11, and never made it to a 5 p.m. church class she was supposed to attend.

Police said they believe Hastings made a stop at the Walgreens at 9937 Garland Road on the way to church to return a Redbox movie.

At a Tuesday news conference, police said a witness described seeing a man speaking to a blonde woman in a white minivan at that Walgreens around the time Hastings disappeared. The witness said the man got into the minivan and the woman moved over to the passenger seat.

The man seen is described as being about 5-foot-10, black and approximately 170 pounds. He reportedly had an afro.

Additionally, police say Hastings’ minivan crashed into a speed limit sign near the intersection of Newcombe Drive and Peavy Road between 4:40 and 5 p.m. on Oct. 11. Police believe an unknown female saw that collision, and they would like to speak with her or anyone else who saw the collision.

Police are also asking that residents who live within a three-mile radius of that intersection check their home security footage. Anyone with footage of a white van between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. is asked to contact police at 214-671-3647.
