Dallas PD arrest 2 possibly linked to Oak Lawn attacks

Dallas police arrested two men who may be connected to a string of attacks in the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas.

Deon Fridia and Donedwin Maxie, both 18, are charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Police responded to a call in a parking garage in the 2100 block of Medical District Drive regarding an aggravated robbery early Sunday morning.

The victim says she was robbed and assaulted at gunpoint by two suspects. She says they stole her wallet and keys and took off in her car.

Police broadcast the vehicle description and at about 2:30 a.m. patrol officers spotted two men matching the description in the stolen vehicle in the area of 4000 Cedar Springs Road. Police say they appeared to be looking for more victims to rob.

Officers followed the vehicle, eventually pulling the suspects over in the 3700 block of Maple Avenue and arresting them. Police say they recovered two guns from the vehicle, both reported stolen out of Irving.

Police are trying to determine if Fridia and Maxie are connected to the string of recent Oak Lawn attacks. There have been 13 violent attacks since late September.

“The fact that these could be the suspects and they’re caught, that’s good. It makes you feel a little safer. But it also makes you pay attention a little bit more,” said Travis Davidson, who lives in the area.

Dallas Councilman Philip Kingston doesn’t want people to let their guard down just yet.

“There are only surface similarities between this attack and the ones previous, so I want to make sure we’re not backing off the increased police presence we’ve had,” he said.

Photos of the suspects will not being released until police have had a chance to conduct photo line ups.
