Dallas ISD teacher arrested for improper relationship with student

A Dallas ISD high school teacher is accused of having an improper relationship with a student.

Darryl Johnson, 50, is a teacher and boys soccer assistant coach at Skyline High School. He was arrested Friday morning with the help of DISD Police.

Police say the alleged victim was a former female student.

Johnson is being held in the Lew Sterrett Jail and is charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second degree felony.

Johnson had no prior arrests. His bond has been set at $50,000.

This investigation is ongoing at this time. Anyone with any information regarding the offense or any other victims should contact Detective Valentine at 214-275-1300.

Skyline High School Principal Marlon Brooks sent a letter to parents saying:

That response had one mom rethinking her daughter's future at the school.

What it's going to make me do is evaluate the school year for next year,” said Angelina Gilliard.

Johnson has some supporters. One Skyline student took to Twitter and said, "throughout high school Johnson has been my favorite teacher, he is the only teacher at Skyline that prepared up for college.”

DISD refused to comment on the arrest.
