A neighborhood in Crowley is on edge after two teens were found dead in the road near a community pool.

It happened in the Crescent Springs Ranch subdivision, about 5 miles north of Burleson. The discovery was made late Saturday night after someone called 911 to report gunshots.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims as 19-year-old Matthew Lemus and 17-year-old Edgar Ramirez. Both deaths have been ruled as homicides since the bodies were found with gunshot wounds.

Ramirez was an incoming senior at Crowley High School. Lemus graduated from the same high school in 2016. The school district said it would have counselors on hand when students return to school on August 22.

Homeowners Association president Tim Gould was asleep inside his Crescent Springs Ranch home around 2:30 Sunday morning when a Crowley Police dispatcher called to ask for his help.

“I could tell by the dispatcher's tone and the seriousness of 'we need to get that done right now' it was a major event,” he said. “I could see the yellow police tape flickering in the dark from a good distance off and obviously the squad cars and more squad cars and more squad cars and the sheriff's department. It seemed like the whole police department was out there.”

Police asked Gould to turn off the sprinklers around the community pool area.

Joe Garcia was visiting a relative in the subdivision overnight. He says he initially heard what he thought were fireworks coming from the area.

“We were just hanging out and heard gunshots,” he said.

Gould says investigators are reviewing surveillance video from one of the cameras that point toward the community parking lot.

Police have not released any information about a possible suspect. They ask anyone who may have information to contact the Crowley Police Department at (817) 297-2276.
