The work on northbound Interstate 35E in Carrollton is complete.

Crews spent most of the day Wednesday near the Crosby Road exit repairing the highway after it buckled, apparently because of all the recent rain.

The separation caused several accidents Tuesday evening, including one involving a Carrollton police officer. The officer’s squad car was hit while he was helping to clear two other crashes.

“The middle lane was significantly higher in the far left lane,” she Carrollton PD spokeswoman Jolene DeVito. “And upon inspection, the roadway surface separated. The left lane had sunk.”

Texas Department of Transportation crews shut down several lanes of the interstate. They worked on grinding down the surface and removed the buckled asphalt

The crews completed the repairs overnight.
