Cuisinart recalls 8 million food processors for laceration hazard

- Cuisinart is recalling eight million food processors because the product’s blade can break off into processed food, posing a possible laceration hazard.

The company says the food processor’s riveted blade can crack over time and small, metal pieces of the blade can break off into the processed food, according to a statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. There have been 69 reports of consumers finding broken pieces of the blade in processed food, including 30 reports of mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.

Twenty-two models of the food processors with four rivets in the blades are included in the recall. The products were sold at department, gourmet and specialty stores from July 1996 through December 2015.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the food processor’s riveted blade and contact Cuisinart for a free replacement blade.

More information on the recall can be found here.
