Construction to close DNT in Plano this weekend

A construction project this weekend could make it tough to get through North Dallas, Plano, Frisco and the surrounding areas.

A map provided by the North Texas Tollway Authority tells the story. The Dallas North Tollway will be closed in both directions near the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

Two northbound lanes will close started at 9 p.m. Friday night between the Spring Creek Parkway exit to the Headquarters Drive entrance ramp. Also on the southbound side, two lanes between Gaylord Parkway and the Spring Creek Parkway entrance ramp will be shut down.

Then all lanes and ramps in that area will close from 11 p.m. Friday night to 5 a.m. Monday morning so crews can work on the Tennyson Parkway bridge over the tollway.

The bridge is being reconstructed in phases. Workers are adding a fourth lane in each direction and this weekend they’ll be placing new beams for the bridge. The concrete deck, though, will be poured next weekend.

Over at Legacy Drive, the NTTA will build a new U-turn lane and the existing U-turn lane will be converted to a pedestrian walkway for the business developments in the area.

Drivers are encouraged to look out for the closure signs, barrels and police throughout the weekend. The Tennyson bridge itself will remain open.
