Construction company agrees to pay for tornado repairs for Red Oak School

Shield Elementary School's construction company has agreed to pay for the repairs needed after the building was damaged in the December tornadoes.

Ratcliff Construction came under fire over the way the school was constructed. The Red Oak school district's January 28th report revealed numerous problems such as: improper chip, fasteners not having enough penetration, missing screws from clips to studs.

On Monday the superintendent told the school board Ratcliff agreed to pay for the repairs after the district hired a third-party engineer to assess the quality of the school's construction. The agreement for Ratcliff to pay for repairs is set to be finalized next month.

Despite the agreement, Ratcliff told FOX 4 "damage to the building including the walls in question, is consistent with the force of the winds and flying debris."
