Classmates of boy who brought gun to school recognized for quick actions

Three weeks after a nine-year-old brought a loaded gun to William B. Miller Elementary School, some children are being recognized for speaking out and ending a dangerous situation.

Families at the East Oak Cliff school were invited to learn more about gun safety and what the school has been teaching their kids.

With his family behind him, nine-year-old Quaylon Robinson embraced a proud moment, born from a very scary one. Qualon recounted the February 17th incident, when one of the boys pulled out a loaded revolver in the boys bathroom.
"He was showing it to everybody and he pointed it at me and that's when everybody took off running and we told Ms. Armstrong, my teacher."

Quaylon was one of five students Wednesday night to be recognized by Dallas Police, and his school, for their quick thinking.

"They immediately went to tell told the adult and that's the important part," said Principal Sheila Aldredge.
The principal invited Dallas Police to talk to students about gun safety last week.

The student who brought the gun to school is no longer attending Miller.
DISD Police say the he took the gun from a relative's car.

That adult did not know it was taken by the child until he brought it to school.
Police have not charged any children or adults with a crime.
