Child dead after being struck by car in Crowley

A child is dead after being struck by a car Wednesday morning in Crowley.

A city official said that units from the city’s police and fire departments responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian accident in the 400 block of S. Oak Street shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, near the city’s rec center and library.

When they arrived, they found the child suffering from injuries sustained in the collision. The child was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center, but died at the hospital shortly thereafter.

The Crowley Police Department will not release the child’s name nor age out of respect for the family.

Police are still investigating the incident.
