Chase suspect doesn't remember running across I-30, getting tased

The man who was chased by cops before running across I-30 in Garland and being tased said he doesn’t remember the incident.

Clinton Lang, 38, told FOX4 in a jailhouse interview he doesn’t remember much about anything from that day.

“All I know is, I woke up I was here,” Lang said, adding that he couldn’t remember why he was running from cops to begin with or being tased.

“I don't remember getting hurt, I just know when I woke up I feel like my back, like tell someone my back is hurt. I don't know why, my arm it hurt, you know, back and my shoulder."

Garland police said Lang and an alleged accomplice were planning to shoplift from a clothing store when he was spotted and the chase began. At one point it was going the wrong way on the Bush Turnpike in Rowlett before eventually stopping in Garland.

When Lang was shown a picture of Jimmy Wheeler, 49, the man Garland police say was his accomplice stealing items from the Kohl's in north Garland, he said he did not recognize him or his name. Lang also said he does not do illegal drugs.

Police said Lang was the wheelman and the chase spanned multiple jurisdictions and lasted nearly 30 minutes at high speeds before coming to an end in Garland where he was tased by a Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy and taken into custody.

Lang is currently being held on a $1,000 bond for theft and $100,000 bond for evading arrest.
