Chase suspect arrested after ramming DPD squad car

A wild police chase that began with a carjacking ended after the suspect rammed a squad car.

It all started around 11 p.m. Tuesday on Victory Lane near the American Airlines Center in Dallas. A woman told police a man stole her white Nissan Altima.

Her cellphone was still in the car so police were able to track it to South Oak Cliff. When officers spotted the car and attempted to pull it over, the driver took off.

The chase lasted about 45 minutes and reached speeds of about 80 miles per hour. The suspect hit a van at one point, but continued through Highland Park and into West Dallas.

He eventually drove into a neighborhood off Princes and Coutess drives in Northwest Dallas, where he ended up on a cul de sac. He tried to escape by driving through someone’s front yard and then rammed a marked Dallas Police Department squad car head on.

The driver was quickly arrested after that and is now facing charges for aggravated robbery and the aggravated assault of a public servant.
