Chad Littlefield's parents share memories as murder trial continues

The parents of the man killed alongside American Sniper Chris Kyle are talking about the loss of their son. The trial for the man accused of killing him continues this week.

Don and Judy Littlefield's son, Chad, was murdered two years ago while he was with Kyle at a gun range in Erath County.

The Littlefield's talked to the Stephenville Empire Tribune about him. They recalled seeing him for the last time on the day before he died.

Judy said her son told her, "Mom, life is so good it's scary." She said at the time she didn't realize she'd cherish the moment for the rest of her life.

In losing their son, Don told the paper, "We decided we could get bitter or better." They chose better.

The couple believes the thing he would miss the most is seeing his daughter grow up. They said he was a doting father to his now 9-year-old girl.

Extra security measures were added at the courthouse in Stephenville over the weekend. Jury selection could last a few more days and then testimony will begin.

Prosecutors are seeing a life sentence without parole for Eddie Ray Routh. His attorneys are expected to use an insanity defense.
