A North Texas man hit a deer while driving along the Sam Rayburn tollway in Plano.

Chris Coleman had never seen a deer on 121, although as a truck driver he's seen plenty near the roadside. He said never expected to be hit by one going thru Plano on his way to Frisco.

NTTA video shows Coleman’s Mercedes hitting a deer at 121 near Legacy Drive in Plano on Wednesday.

Photos from the Plano Fire Department show how the deer went through the passenger side windshield and landed in the back seat.

Coleman said he was in the center lane and the deer came all the way from the shoulder and missed a couple of cars before hitting him.

“I saw a big hole and I realized that I hit the deer,” Coleman said. “I pulled over to the side of the road put the car in park, and as I put it in Park I looked over my shoulder and I saw the deer. It freaked me out.”

Texas DPS officials said that incidents between vehicles and deer increase during November and aren’t that unusual even in suburban areas.
