Boyfriend named suspect in Keller woman's disappearance

The boyfriend of a missing Keller woman who was last seen in West Texas has been officially named as a suspect in her disappearance.

Zuzu Verk, 22, was last seen Oct. 12 in Alpine, Texas, where she was attending Sul Ross State University. Her family says she went on a date with her boyfriend, Robert Fabian, and has not been seen since. She was reported missing after she missed a mid-term.

Alpine police announced on Wednesday that Fabian was now officially a suspect in Verk’s disappearance. Fabian's sister, mother and friend have all been named persons of interest.

Fabian, was named a person of interest early in the investigation. Alpine police said he was not cooperating with them when he was questioned, but Fabian’s lawyer said he was cooperating. Calls to Fabian’s attorney were not returned.

FOX 4 has learned that Fabian is named in more than one search warrant affidavit surrounding vehicles investigators believe to be important in the search for the young woman: a Jeep and a Miata, which friends say is Zuzu's car, an F-150 and a white Ford Mustang. The pickup is connected to Fabian’s family.

Meanwhile, the search for Verk has moved near the U.S.-Mexico border. Authorities in Alpine are getting assistance from other agencies including drones to search by air. So far, they've covered 500 square miles.

The Texas Rangers, Homeland Security and FBI are also involved in the investigation.

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Verk’s location. Tipsters are encouraged to call the Alpine Police Department at 432-837-3486.
