Booker T Washington HS expected to address recent death and overdose

Parents of DISD's Booker T. Washington High School students are expected to be informed about the death of student and an overdose of a second teen.

Last month, 17-year-old senior cellist Damian Garcia left school and was with friends at North Park Center when police say he took tablets then later jumped into traffic and was killed. On that same day a student was treated for an overdose. No details have been released about her condition.

In a message to parents posted on the school's website, the school plans to meet with parents tonight to discuss programs currently in place as well as how the school is offering support to students.

DISD police also plan to have representatives there to discuss the department's Crimestoppers program.
