Police: Man committed suicide after confessing to murder

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Grand Prairie police are investigating a man who allegedly confessed to murdering someone before killing himself.

The suicide happened Monday afternoon in the 2400 block of Pioneer Parkway in Arlington. Viewers posted video and photos of a SWAT team moving into the area.

Police said 29-year-old Ivan Arellano shot and killed himself in a parking lot after he told a bystander that he killed his girlfriend.

The victim, who police believe is likely in her teens or early 20's, has not yet been identified. Her name and cause of death will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office once an official identification has been made and the next of kin have been notified.

Police have not yet released any information about the connection between the deceased suspect and the deceased woman.
