Blue Bell's Homemade Vanilla returning first

Homemade Vanilla will be the first Blue Bell flavor to come back to stores.

The company made the announcement Monday morning on social media. A day later it said Dutch Chocolate would also be returning.

Only one of three plants – the one in Alabama – is back in production. The plants in Oklahoma and Brenham, Texas remain closed following listeria contamination.

Blue Bell ice cream is expected to go on sale again in the Austin and Houston areas on Aug. 31.

North Texas is in Phase II of its return.
