Big D Climb raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for blood cancer causes

More than 2,000 climbers climbed 70 stories of stairs Saturday morning to raise money for a blood cancer research and patient services.

The participants climbed to the top of the Bank of American Plaza in downtown Dallas to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It is expected that they’ll raise more than $255,000. The building was lit up in red for the occasion.

This was the 8th year for the Big D Climb.

Several police officers, SWAT team members, military members and firefighters were participating as a part of the first responders division. Many of them climbed in full gear.
