Dallas elem. school playground gets torched

Some Dallas parents are trying to find ways to help replace the playground equipment at their children's elementary school after someone torched it.

Dallas-Fire Rescue is investigating the incident at Julius Dorsey Elementary School in Pleasant Grove as arson. District officials say the school's playground equipment was set on fire on Sunday night.

Monday morning, all that was left was a charred, unusable mess. PTA members say the burnt playset was quickly taken away on Monday because of breathing concerns.

“If you have some grudge against Dorsey, maybe you can come to us and get some help because you need help if you stoop so low to burn monkey bars,” said PTA member Valerie Allen.

Dallas ISD says so far, there are no suspects.

Meanwhile, parents are trying to raise the money to replace the equipment themselves. To donate, visit https://www.gofundme.com/ka6pjzgp

While there are still swings, the district says teachers are coming up with other activities during recess time.
