Arlington OKs $200M development partnership with the Rangers

- Arlington City Council unanimously approved a $200 million development on Tuesday night to be built near the ballpark.

The Rangers proposed a hotel and entertainment development that would also add space for conventions.

The city would invest $50 million dollars, and the Rangers and other private funding would pay for the rest. The project would bring restaurants, retail and entertainment near Globe Life Park.

The hotel tax generated would go to pay the city back.

The city hopes this will help keep the Rangers from moving the team somewhere else.

A representative from the team thanked the council after its vote.

The development would likely be completed in 2017.
