Icy start... then FINALLY above freezing

The morning starts us off with freezing rain, sleet, and snow pellets... but with temps in the upper 20s, it will take us a while to transition to rain. Additional accumulations will be minor, especially compared to yesterday. Temps will FINALLY warm up to above freezing in the Metroplex after noon and eventually to the NW this evening. Highs today are only in the mid 30s. Winds will be light, and the sunshine will be non-existent.

Roads will continue to be hazardous this afternoon and slick spots will linger until pure rain and above freezing temps finally break up the ice pack. Temps will actually increase (slowly) overnight, preventing a refreeze and continuing the melting trend into Sunday.

Hoping for sun on Sunday? Not going to happen. Temps will at least slowly warm into the low 40s, but a cold drizzle will fall on and off all day. Monday brings much of the same, but with mid 40s

Tuesday is the Spring tease, giving us temps in the upper 60s and possible 70s (goodbye ice) and breezy conditions with a few breaks of sunshine. Don't get too comfortable, because another Arctic front is headed our way Tuesday night into Wednesday morning... and the cold returns.
