Day care owner arrested following baby's death

- The owner of an unlicensed day care in Lewisville was arrested Wednesday as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of a baby boy.

Police charged Druscilla Bowie for operating a child care facility without a license, which is a Class B misdemeanor.

Earlier this month, Latoya King-Bolden told FOX 4 that she picked up her 10-month-old son, Kayden, from Bowie’s home and he wasn’t breathing.

She said she had checked on him earlier in the afternoon and was told he was sleeping. Nearly four hours later she said he felt like a limp rag doll.

"He was ice cold," King-Bolden said. "I said, 'Kay-baby!' I said he's not breathing he's not breathing.”

The child’s mother said she had taken him to the doctor the day before and he checked out fine.

Bowie allegedly texted her a day after his death saying, "Please don't hate me. I would never do anything to hurt him. I tried to make him as comfortable as I could because he had been crying."

Kayden's parents want a thorough investigation. Lewisville police said initially there was no evidence of foul play.

Bowie is being held in the Denton County jail. Her bond was set at $30,000.
