DALLAS - Police pursued a man for several miles through Dallas and Tarrant counties after getting a number of 911 calls about his passenger. She appeared to be in distress, police said.
The Dallas Police Department said several people reported seeing a woman screaming for help inside a gold Honda car just before 11 p.m. Sunday. One of the 911 calls reportedly came from an off-duty police officer who followed the car.
Responding officers caught up to the car on Samuell Boulevard near the Dallas – Mesquite border. But the driver refused to pull over.
DPD’s Air-1 helicopter followed the car through downtown and onto Interstate 30. When the driver got to Fort Worth officers there were waiting for him. He eventually stopped and was taken into custody.
Police said the woman in the car is okay. She was initially handcuffed but released after officers confirmed she was a victim.
The driver of the car will face charges for felony evading arrest. He could face additional charges once police determine what really happened.
