FOX 4 viewer donates SUV to Dallas car arson victim

A FOX 4 viewer stepped up and donated an SUV to a recent victim of a car arson attack.

It all began with a FOX 4 report after Brandi Smith's only transportation, her van, was torched by an arsonist.

Smith's vehicle was one of five that was set on fire earlier this week at the Solana Ridge apartments in Pleasant Grove.

In the FOX 4 report, a tearful Smith said she'd worked hard for her van.

Little did Smith know that up north in McKinney, a woman named Gail Vetrone was watching, and she just so happened to have a spare vehicle -- a Toyota 4Runner.

"I'd just got another car," said Vetrone. "That's what it was waiting for. It was waiting for someone who needed it."

Vetrone not only gave Smith the SUV –- she washed it, filled it with gas and helped with the transfer of ownership.

"I was actually at work," said Smith. "My grandmother called me. She was like, ‘Somebody wants to give you a car.' I was like, ‘What?!' I went and told my managers. I was telling everybody!"

"I saw a need and God said immediately, ‘Make that phone call,'" said Vetrone.
