Suspect charged in connection to Dallas ATM theft

Dallas police have charged a man already in jail on other charges with taking part in one of nearly two dozen ATM thefts that have taken place since January.

Additionally, police say a cell phone links the Pleasant Grove man to the crime, which didn't take place far from his home.

Dallas police had good help in the case, thanks to an eyewitness and a patrol officer who spotted the stolen vehicle used in the caper, with the stolen ATM inside.

The suspect, Terrail Moore, 19, has been charged with ATM theft.

A witness saw the Jan. 23 crime Moore is accused of at the Wolf Mart at Saint Augustine and Old Seagoville Road.

The witness told police about seeing four men dressed in black in a blue Ford Expedition, and that witness watched the SUV back into the store and two men load up the ATM.

When police spotted the SUV not far away, the arrest affidavit says the suspects took off running.

However, police found a cell phone near the stolen Expedition.

The arrest affidavit says that "the phone belonged to Terrail Moore...Moore  denied being involved in the ATM theft...and stated his phone was stolen [Jan. 21]... but text records show that Terrail Moore's phone was in contact with his girlfriend shortly before the offense occurred."

Moore, according to the arrest affidavit, told detectives that whoever stole his phone must have been texting his girlfriend.

There were 20 ATM thefts in January, and police don't know if Moore could be connected to others.

Samir Patel, the store's owner who slept in his store after the theft, says he'll sleep better now and has no plans to leave the Grove.

Moore said no to FOX 4's interview request Monday.
