CARROLLTON, Texas - Police caught a murder suspect early Thursday morning after finding the victim’s car 40 miles away from the crime scene.
The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. at an upscale apartment complex in the 1100 block of Vandergriff Drive in Carrollton.
Someone called 911 to report hearing a single gunshot. Responding officers searched the complex, but didn’t find anything.
Denton County dispatchers later got another call from a man who claimed his friend had killed a man in Carrollton and was driving the victim's vehicle in the area.
Police in Justin quickly located the car near Texas Motor Speedway and took the suspect into custody.
The identities of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.
Police believe they knew each other and said there is no danger to others in the area.
