Thieves steal SUV wheels at car dealership

Thieves left several new SUVs on blocks overnight at a North Texas dealership.

The security company monitoring Classic Buick Pontiac GMC of Carrollton saw the suspects on camera and called police.

Officers arrived within minutes, but the thieves had already gotten away with the tires and wheels from five vehicles.

The bad actors also smashed the windows out on other SUVs.

The dealership estimates they caused about $50,000 or more in damage.

The dealership hasn't hesitated in taking extra precautions. It replaced four cameras with high-definition ones Friday afternoon, with more to come.

"It appears like within 15 minutes, they were on the lot and off with 24 tires and wheels," said service manager Don Garrett.

Garrett wants to look into the marking the tires and wheel wells so if they're sold on Craigslist or another site, they can be tracked.
