7 students, 1 adult sent to hospital after Alvarado ISD bus accident

Several students were injured after an accident in Johnson County involving an Alvarado ISD school bus.

Emergency responders say a bus collided with a flat-bed truck and went off the road on Highway 67 Wednesday afternoon, halfway between Alvarado and Venus.

Police say seven students and one adult were transferred to hospitals for treatment for minor injuries. It wasn't immediately known how old the students were.

Venus police say the school bus driver was trying to turn left off of 67 onto FM 2738 when he pulled into the path of an oncoming truck. They say there is no sign of distracted driving.

The front end of the bus had significant damage from the crash.

No word yet if any citations will be issued by police for the wreck.
