Inmate captured after escaping from Parkland Hospital

Dallas County Sheriff's deputies have re-arrested the inmate who escaped from Parkland Hospital on Wednesday.

Anna Cardella, 47, was apprehended and taken into custody around 6 a.m. Thursday. No information about where she was found was immediately released.

Cardella was remotely booked into the Dallas County jail on Oct. 22 after she was arrested on charges of drug-possession and driving with a suspended license.

She was being held in airborne isolation at the hospital when she escaped shortly before noon.

“There's usually an officer that’s assigned to each inmate and in this particular incident because she was in an isolation room the officer was outside the room,” said Raul Reyna, Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators said Cardella was wearing street clothes when she escaped. They're pouring over surveillance video to try to figure out exactly how she was able to leave the hospital.
