DALLAS - Police believe a wrong-way driver is to blame for two crashes on the Central Expressway in Dallas.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday. A Jeep that was going southbound in the northbound lanes hit a retaining wall north of downtown.
The vehicle rolled over and landed on its wheels before hitting another retaining wall. The driver, 29-year-old Olga Fernandez-Caraveo, got out and fled on foot, police said.
A witness provided responding officers with a description and a police helicopter helped in the search. Police said Fernandez-Caraveo was found crying on a curb.
She was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and is now facing charges for driving while intoxicated.
Investigators believe she also caused another crash near Park Lane that involved at least two vehicles. No one was hurt.
