DALLAS - A crash in west Dallas Monday evening left three children dead and one critically injured.
Police said the accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Maricela Mendoza and her four kids turned onto Singleton Boulevard from Peoria Avenue and were hit by a speeding car.
The impact was so hard it pushed the family’s car into the opposite lanes of traffic.
The three children in the back seat – a 3-year-old female, a 6-year-old male and an 11-year-old female – were pronounced dead at Children’s hospital. A 13-year-old female was sitting in the front passenger seat. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Mendoza and the other driver were also hospitalized, but their injuries are not considered life threatening.
Police said speed was the main factor in the crash. The case will be referred to a grand jury and the speeding driver could face charges for criminally negligent homicide.
