Marine's body arrives in North Texas for burial

- A North Texas Marine killed in a military plane crash earlier this month is back home to be buried with military honors.

Staff Sgt. Joshua Snowden was one of 16 people killed when a KC-130 crashed in Mississippi. He grew up in North Texas and graduated from Highland Park High School. He was later stationed in New York but was flying on the transport plane from North Carolina to Arizona when it went down in a Mississippi field.

The Marine Corps has yet to say what caused the plane to crash with 15 Marines and a sailor on board.

"Shortly after his death, Snowden's family issued a statement emphasizing his love of God, family, friends and country.

Snowden was taken by procession Wednesday afternoon from DFW Airport to a Dallas funeral home. The North Texas Patriot Guard Riders helped honor him by riding with the casket.

"They've actually sacrificed their lives for the military and the American people," said Brian Liberty with the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders. "It's our honor to be asked to step in her and provide escort for them."

Snowden's funeral is Friday at the Church of the Incarnation. He will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery.
