Fort Worth Police seeking information in deadly hit-&-run

Fort Worth Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 48-year-old man.

Investigators say Samuel Deleon was crossing the street on July 15th when he was hit by two drivers. Only one came back to the scene. Friends and family are now looking for justice for the father and grandfather.

“You can't just hit somebody, how can you hit somebody and just leave a whole human?” said Ariel Diaz.

Diaz says Deleon came into her family’s life three years ago when he started dating her mom. She says he acted like a step-father to her, and treated her kids like his own grandchildren.

“My son is three years old. ‘Sam, where's Sam?’ ‘Sam this,’ he sees something of Sam's, ‘Oh this is Sam's.’ What do I tell him when he asks for Sam?” she said.

Diaz says Deleon was picking up her mother from work when they got into an argument and he decided to walk home. Fort Worth Police say around 10:50 pm, two drivers hit Deleon in the 8100 block of Camp Bowie Boulevard.

Witnesses reported seeing two men in a 2007 to 2012 model white Nissan Altima with black rims pull into Sutherland’s parking lot nearby to check the damage on their car. They then got back into the car and left.

“Maybe he would've still been alive, if they would've checked on him instead of checking on their car, they would've went and checked on him, maybe he would've been alive,” said Diaz.

Police say the car they are looking for likely has front end damage from the accident. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
