Bones found in Ellis County belonged to young woman

- Investigators say the human remains found in Ellis County over the weekend belonged to a young woman of African American descent.

A hunter found the bones Saturday afternoon in the town of Alma. They were on a non-address piece of land that has some crops and a small wooded area.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case as a homicide and has asked for help identifying the woman.

She’s described as being 16 to 22 years old with a medium muscular build and medium frame. She was between 5 feet 6 inches and 6 feet tall. She was wearing a Pilot Point "Bearcat Pride" t-shirt similar to the one pictured.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Joe Fitzgerald at 972-825-4928.

UNT’s Center for Human Identification is working with the sheriff’s office to hopefully make a positive identification.
