Suspect arrested in Allen road rage shooting incident

A man is in jail, accused of shooting out the rear window of another car.

Allen police call it a case of road rage after a woman honked at his car stopped in traffic, at the intersection of Greenville and McDermott.

"Approximately eight o'clock this morning in morning traffic, a female driver passed this vehicle," said Sgt. Jon Felty with the Allen Police Department. "She said that the car was stopped in the middle lane and that the hazard flashers were activated. She passed the car, honked the horn, came back in front of the car, the car followed her to the intersection and then fired four shots through her back windshield."

The drivers of both cars pulled into a Valero parking lot, and a man working there, Muluken Salilew, recorded video on his iPhone.

The shooter, he says, waited in his car until police arrived. The woman was in hysterics.

"She's shocked, she's crying," said Salilew. "When she sees me, she starts running to me."

When she calmed down, she showed Muluken the damage.

Allen police arrested a Plano resident, 44-year-old Cleaven Wade III, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

"He said, ‘This lady cut me off and I fired into her car,'" said Sgt. Felty. "Once we took him into custody and transported him to the station for intervieweing, he exercised his right to have attorney present and would not answer any questions."

Police say Wade's weapon was a .45-caliber Glock, and that he has a concealed handgun permit, but they have now moved to have that revoked.

Wade is facing a second-degree felony. At last report, he had been taken to the Collin County jail.
