Quick-thinking Dallas sheriff's deputy helps capture DPD shooter

The action of a quick-thinking Dallas County sheriff's deputy helped police officers shoot and kill a man who attacked the Dallas police headquarters on Saturday.

Katrina Caldwell was responding to another call when she learned about Dallas police being under attack.

James Boulware was being chased by officers along the I-20 heading toward Caldwell's direction.

Caldwell stopped her squad car at the intersection of I-20 westbound and 310 and deployed stop sticks on the road.

When Boulware drove over the stop sticks, three of his tires blew out, giving police the opportunity to stop his vehicle and take him out.

"A lot of people been calling me a hero, I just feel I was in the right place at the right time and I had the equipment to do the job and I just did what I had to do," said Caldwell.

This was the very first time Caldwell ever used stop sticks. She says she was just relieved nobody was hurt.
