Accused apartment intruder speaks out from jail

Last week, FOX 4 showed images of a man caught on camera stealing from a woman's bedroom while she was sleeping.

FOX 4 viewers made the difference -- their calls to Crime Stoppers led to an arrest the very next day.

The suspect in custody, Walter Glover, confessed to police and talked only to FOX 4 News on Monday.

"I probably got in there one time and I ain't going in there no more," said Glover. "I only did that one time. That's it."

"You did go in her apartment before?" asked FOX 4's Shaun Rabb.

"One time," said Glover. "That's it. I didn't go in there no more, though."

A woman whom FOX 4 called Alice (not her real named) has lived at the Hampton Terrace apartments in Oak Cliff for about three years and started noticing money and other things missing back in December.

When money kept disappearing, Alice's mother bought a camera system viewed through an app on her phone. It caught Glover on camera on May 24.

"It wasn't only me that went in there," said Glover. "One day I was outside. It was at nighttime. I was outside listening to my music and I saw a cat coming out that apartment. Before I ever went in there I saw a cat coming out that apartment, so it wasn't only me that went in that apartment, you know what I'm saying?"

"You got in…you got in through the window?" Rabb said.

"Huh?" said Glover.

"Did you go in through the window?" said Rabb.

"That's where he went in at," said Glover.

"Where did you go in?" said Rabb.

"In the window," said Glover.

"Do you know this other guy you saw coming out of her apartment?" said Rabb.

"Nah, I don't know the guy," said Glover. "Like I say, it's different guys. They do stuff at nighttime over there and I don't know these cats that be outside at night."

"Why did you go in?" said Rabb.

"I wasn't thinking," said Glover. "I wasn't in my right state of mind. I didn't know what I was doing."

"What would you like to say to [Alice]?" said Rabb.

"I'll tell her this, man: look, I apologize and whatever I took from you I will pay it back," said Glover. "I'll give you your money back, whatever you need from me. I'll give it back to you. I apologize. Didn't mean to put you in no jeopardy or nothing like that. I'm sorry. My deep, sincere apologizing. I apologize."

Glover says he never saw the woman in her bed. He says he has a bad right eye and never saw her as she lay sleeping.
