State senate will vote on sanctuary cities bill

The state senate will vote Tuesday on a controversial bill that would cut funding for cities that refuse to help enforce federal immigration laws.

Republican leaders say they have enough GOP support to pass the sanctuary bill, also known as Senate Bill 4.

The bill would ban sanctuary cities. Those communities or elected officials who refuse to hand over immigrants already in custody for possible deportation could lose state grant money.
