23-year-old NBA player, Bryce Dejean-Jones, killed after apartment break-in in Dallas

DALLAS - Dallas Police confirm to Fox 4 that 23-year-old New Orleans Pelican guard was shot and killed early Saturday morning after allegedly breaking into a Dallas apartment.

According to a release from police, officers responded to a shooting in the 2500 block of Bennett Avenue around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday and found Dejean-Jones in the hallway, shot.

The resident of the nearby apartment reported to police that he was asleep when he heard someone kick in the door to his apartment. He retrieved a handgun and when Dejean-Jones entered the bedroom he shot him.

Dejean-Jones left the apartment and collapsed in the breezeway. He was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Dallas Police are currently investigating the death as homicide.
