DALLAS - With dropping temperatures in North Texas, the work being done by a Dallas restaurant is needed now more than ever.
The Taco Stop restaurant is providing free jackets, coats and sweaters for those without. They set up a coat rack that’s stocked with warm outerwear just outside the door.
People who are cold are encouraged to grab a jacket without having to ask for it or feel embarrassed about it. Anyone who wants to help is encouraged to leave a jacket.
Restaurant owner Emilia Flores says she first saw the coat drop-off idea while in Mexico and was inspired to do the same at the Taco Stop. Since then, the idea has seen immense success.
“They can just come and get them. And they don't have to ask or feel embarrassed about it. And I think that's a great thing," Flores said.
"I just thought it's a great idea," said Sharon Quinones, who donated coats. "In a season that's all about giving — what a great way to give back to people in need.”
