North Texas principal dresses as ‘Mistletoe' elf to surprise students

- Every Friday morning during the holidays students at Central Elementary in Stephenville arrive to find someone special outside their school – a real life elf that’s typically up to no good!

Principal Kelly Magin shared photos of herself dressed as Mistletoe Elf. One shows her on top of the school sign and in another she’s perched on a swing high in a tree.

The principal explained her campus is made up of all pre-K and kindergarten students. Last year she saw many of her teachers bring an “Elf on the Shelf” to their classrooms and this year she wanted to take the idea even further.

“Our campus strives to be a welcoming campus that makes learning fun and gives students positive memories of school that will last a lifetime,” Magin said.

Every Friday morning since Thanksgiving she has dressed up as the elf. Her maintenance department has helped her with the preparations and safety.

“Our maintenance department also helped me get the swing hung out front this morning in our trees. They are the best maintenance department EVER!” she said.

Magin is still working on a plan for next Friday’s elf appearance. She expects it to be an exciting one.

She also said her students’ reactions have been priceless. Some are pretty sure it’s her. She does dress up often. But others think maybe she’s really a magical elf who works as a principal and some just believe she’s Mistletoe.
