2 killed when stolen pickup hits tree

DALLAS - Two people are dead after the driver of a stolen pickup truck ran into a tree.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday as police were trying to stop the truck in southeast Dallas.

Police said the truck was reported stolen out of Terrell and officers spotted it in Seagoville. They tried to get the driver to pull over but instead, he took off.

As he was speeding away, police said the driver lost control. He spun off the road and slammed into a tree.

The driver and a male passenger died in the crash. Their names have not yet been released.

Two other female passengers were hurt. Police said one has serious injuries but is expected to survive.
