Azle teen found dead on side of road; police investigating

An Azle family wants answers about the death of their 16-year-old daughter who was found dead on the side of the road.

Police say Savanah Moss was found on the side of Hwy. 199 Sunday around 1 a.m.

Police believe she may have been hit by more than one vehicle.

Two people called 911 -- the first reported something in the southbound lanes, and the second reported a possible body on the side of the road.

Police say they have little to go on.

No car parts were left behind and no witnesses have come forward.

Police say Savanah was reported as a runaway earlier Saturday evening. They are looking at all possibilities and have not ruled out suicide.

Family members say Savanah was a sophomore at Azle High School who had overcome some adversity.

The district says grief counselors will remain at the school as long as needed.

She was working toward an early graduation and was already registered for college.

She was looking forward to a career as a counselor for troubled teens, her family said.
