Mesquite store clerk shot during attempted robbery

A Mesquite convenience store clerk was shot Tuesday night during a robbery attempt, according to police.

Surveillance cameras recorded the attack around 11 p.m. outside the Quick Stop convenience store on Gus Thomasson Road.

A gunman ran toward the clerk, who was getting into his car after closing the store for the night, and shot him in the face and body.

Despite being shot several times, the victim is expected to survive.

Police believe robbery was the motive, but the attacker got away with nothing.

The gunman was dressed in a gray hoodie and dark pants.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
