Barricaded woman arrested outside DFW Airport

- A woman who was involved in a brief police chase and an hour-long standoff at DFW Airport Wednesday morning is now in custody.

Officials said airport police tried to pull her over for a traffic stop on the airport grounds around 10 a.m. She refused to stop and led officers on a slow-speed chase.

The woman stopped near the east control tower on East Airfield Drive and refused to get out of her SUV or cooperate with police for more than an hour.

“It was very difficult and not very successful,” said DFW Airport spokesperson David Magana. “We tried a variety of ways to reach her and have her talk to us."

Airport officials said police convinced her to lower her window to talk, but she still did not listen to commands to come out of her car.

She then took off again and stopped behind a Rent-A-Center parking lot near a control tower, but not in a restricted area. That’s where police and armored vehicles surrounded her white SUV to arrest her.

It is not yet clear if she will face any charges. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.

The FAA briefly closed the runways in the vicinity, but normal flight operations have since resumed.

The woman’s SUV was towed away from the airport.
